Privacy Policy

ScanPass is an iPhone app that reads passports and prepares crew and passenger lists for immigration. This policy explains what happens to the information you put into the app. In short: everything stays on your device.

Information the app processes

To build a crew and passenger list, the app works with:

• photos of passport data pages that you take with the camera or choose from your photo library;
• passport details recognised from those photos or typed in by you — name, date and place of birth, nationality, passport number, issue and expiry dates;
• boat names, crew details and remarks (for example, accommodation) that you enter;
• the lists you generate (XLSX and PDF files).

Where it is processed and stored

Text recognition runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device frameworks. ScanPass has no servers and no user accounts. Your data is stored only in the app's storage on your device and is not sent to us or to anyone else.

We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party SDKs, and we do not sell or share personal data.

Retention

• Passport photos and scans are deleted automatically after the period you choose in Settings (from 24 hours to 90 days; 90 days by default). You can also delete any scan manually at any time.
• Saved lists stay on your device until you delete them, or until you delete the app.

Sharing

Data leaves your device only when you decide to share it — for example, when you send a list by email or messenger, print it with AirPrint, or export a backup file using the iOS share sheet. What happens to shared files is governed by the app or service you choose.

Permissions

• Camera — to photograph passport data pages.
• Photos — to pick an existing passport photo, only the photo you select.
• Face ID — optional app lock. Face ID is handled by iOS; the app never receives your biometric data.

Your control

You can view, correct and delete any scan, list, boat or crew member in the app. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device.

Children

ScanPass is a tool for charter operators, marinas and agents. It is not directed to children. Passport details of minor passengers are processed only on the operator's device, as described above.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
